What we collect
Paper Track does not ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or a password. There is no sign-up screen.
To run the daily leaderboard and daily challenge, the app creates an anonymous account on your device and stores a player nickname, avatar choice, competition scores, and challenge times as described below. You choose the nickname yourself (or keep the random code generated on first launch). That nickname is visible to other players on the daily leaderboard.
Third-party services used in the app — including Firebase, advertising, and analytics providers — may also automatically collect certain technical information, such as device identifiers (e.g., IDFA), IP address, device type, app interactions, and approximate location, as described in their own policies.
Anonymous account and cloud data
We use Google Firebase to operate online features. Firebase Authentication signs you in anonymously: a unique user ID is created for the app install. We do not receive your Apple ID, email, or other login credentials from this process.
Cloud Firestore stores: your anonymous user ID; the nickname and avatar you select; a count of first-place finishes in the daily competition; your daily score for the current day; and, if you play the daily challenge, your completion time for that day. Leaderboard entries (nickname, avatar, score or time) are readable as part of the public daily rankings.
Firebase is operated by Google. Data is processed on Google’s servers according to Google’s and Firebase’s privacy documentation. We do not use Firebase for email, push notifications, or Google Analytics in this app.
Third-party ads
Our app displays advertisements provided by third-party ad networks via Appodeal. These services may collect certain device information — such as device identifiers (e.g., IDFA), IP address, and approximate location — to provide personalized or non-personalized ads, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Usage analytics
We use Amplitude to collect anonymous usage data — such as which levels are played, session duration, and in-app actions. This helps us understand how the game is used and improve the experience. Amplitude may collect device identifiers, IP address, and behavioral event data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
Your tracking choice
On iOS 14 and later, we request your permission through App Tracking Transparency before allowing tracking. You can deny permission, and the app will continue to function with non-personalized ads. Leaderboards and your anonymous Firebase account still work if you decline tracking.
In the EU/EEA/UK we also show a consent form before personalized ads. You can change that choice in Settings → Privacy settings.
On device and in the cloud
The app stores game progress locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage (UserDefaults) — for example completed levels, remaining hints, settings (sound and vibration), daily streak, and today’s competition total. This local data is not a substitute for the cloud profile: leaderboard and challenge results are also written to Firebase as described above.
If you delete the app, local progress is removed. The anonymous Firebase session is tied to the install; a fresh install starts a new anonymous account and does not keep the previous leaderboard identity.
Age requirement
Paper Track is rated 13+ on the App Store and is not directed to or intended for use by children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
Partners
We use third-party services for cloud features, advertising, and analytics. These services may collect anonymous usage and device information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
